Also known as the Flowering Maple or Indian Mallow, the Abutilon is a semi-tropical shrub or small tree that is perfect for containers and window boxes—the drooping, bell-shaped flowers will cascade over the edges all summer. They grow very quickly over the summer. Green maple-like leaves. Can also be grown indoors.
Thompsonii sports clusters of bright orange flowers with yellow and green variegated foliage. This flower is excellent at attracting hummingbirds.
It prefers well-drained, moist soil.
Fertilize biweekly for ideal performance.
Part Shade to Shade.
Grows up to 15 feet high in the south, but expect only two to three feet in a single summer.
