Description
Purly chives have been cultivated in Europe since the Middle Ages, and their medium size, straight, upright leaves that can be used fresh or dried. The flowers are edible, and florets can be pulled apart and sprinkled on salads, soups, pizzas, and added to sauces. The flavor is similar to a sweet onion. Plants grow 12-18” tall. Harvest the leaves 3-4 times per year before flowering by cutting back to the ground level, though continually harvest small amounts works as well. A must have for the perennial culinary herb garden.
