This cultivar’s branches grow close together and overlap like shingles. Because of its multi-branching habit it appears dense and almost spherical in shape. Its unique shape provides a sculptural appearance in the garden. Already interesting because of its shape and habit, this Japanese Maple becomes even more interesting with its showy foliage. The foliage is bright green through summer. In fall, some of the leaves become a brilliant fiery red while others turn a deep dark green. The contrast provides a dramatic show in the garden or border. Ideal in small spaces, courtyards, or large containers.
