Water Needs: Tomato plants need consistent watering in order to avoid split fruit – water whenever the soil is dry; in the full heat of summer, they will probably need water daily. Fertilize with Tomato Food every two weeks for best results. Do not get the foliage wet, water from the base. We highly recommend that you put weed barrier or mulch around the base of your tomatoes (when planted in the ground) in order to avoid dirt splashing up onto the leaves, which can lead to disease.

General Info: ‘Scarlet Red’ is a  fresh market tomato with great flavor, firmness and quality. ‘Scarlet Red’ is a high yielding tomato, and the plants are vigorous and disease resistant. Its extra-large fruit have a deep scarlet red interior, and excellent firmness. They store well, and can be picked when red and ripe, or they can be picked early when still green – they will ripen well on the counter, but not as well as they would if they were left on the vine.
