HIBISCUS x ‘Summerific® Edge of Night’ (Rose Mallow)

Description

These huge plants have some of the most spectacular flowers of all perennials. They bloom from the hottest part of summer well into fall. Easy to grow, likes a damp soil. The semi-woody stems die back in winter. New shoots don’t emerge until late in spring. Some people prune the shoots by a third when they are a foot tall, to sport a stockier, bushier plant. At only 3-3½’ tall, this is a compact Hibiscus. 7-8″ bubblegum pink flowers have overlapping petals and darker pink veining for a dramatic 3D effect. Dark foliage  contrasts nicely with the green flower calyxes and red veining and petioles. Best color and performance will be in full sun.
